About Me

A great lover of animals, grooming for over 20 years

I have always been a great lover of animals from a young age and I have been very lucky to turn my passion into my job.

I have been grooming dogs for over 20 years. I trained and worked in the US for 5 years gaining invaluable experience. I have been asked to groom for Crufts and I am also fully qualified in Animal Reiki.

I am very flexible in the way I work. I am familiar with the different types of clips that suit different breeds and continually keep informed of developments in the area, however I am more than happy to groom dogs to their owners’ requirements.

If you have a non pedigree dog, I shall be very happy to discuss with you what clip would suit your dog best!

Thank you for visiting my website and I look forward to seeing you soon,

Allison

What dog owners say about Allison

“Just picked up my cocker spaniel, Pippa. She has had a fantastic summer cut by Allison, who is an amazing groomer, who never needs to tether a dog. They stand freely and calm, unrestrained on the grooming table. Allison is so skilful, cheerful and happy and adored by all her dogs. I couldn’t recommend her more highly.”

“We have been going to see Allison for our dog grooming for about 17 years and wouldn’t go anywhere else! She loves all the dogs and treats them like her own. She takes her time, doesn’t restrain them and gives them breaks when needed. I would have no hesitation in recommending her!”

“Alison is a wonderful dog groomer. My precious pup adores her and she always comes home looking utterly gorgeous. She really cares for the dogs in her parlour and you can tell as there are so many happy faces. She is really gentle and her grooming is to a really high standard”

“I took Bertie to Ali for a much needed trim and general sorting out. Immediately upon entering Ali’s Pooch parlour I was greeted with a big smile and a “hello doll” for me, followed by a big hug for Bertie, which was reassuring because Bertie has a bit of a phobia about going to a dog groomer.

Bertie is a Cavapoo and was in much need of a trim. Ali and I had a quick chat and then I left Bertie in her very capable hands to give him exactly what was needed. Being his first trim after the Winter, he was carrying a little more fur than normal but Ali did an outstanding job and returned him to the dog we love. Ali told me what she needed to do and there were a few issues under that big fur-ball that needed to be addressed.

Ali has a very charming disposition and clearly a great love for the animals she cares for. The friendly atmosphere in her salon was one of calm professionalism that left me in no doubt at all that Bertie was in the company of an expert dog groomer who cares deeply for the animals she treats. Bertie got a 5* treatment from a 5* groomer, and as we left I did my Best Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonation and said “ I’ll be back” and indeed we have been.

Ali comes highly recommended and I am so very fortunate to have discovered this little gem.”

FAQs

Questions owners ask

Anything else, give me a ring on 07476 225936.

What size dogs do you groom?

As a general rule I groom small to medium dogs however some larger dogs may be accommodated depending on what your requirements are. Please contact me to discuss your needs, all decisions are made on an individual basis.

How long does it take?

Please allow two to three hours for a full groom. We can give you an approximate time that your pampered pooch will be ready for you but how long it takes depends on several things, such as the condition and type of hair, drying time and how your pet is being cut. We will call you when your pampered pooch is ready for you to collect.

How will you dry my Pampered Pooch?

The grooming parlour has both a cabinet drier and floor standing drier. While most dogs like to lay down and enjoy the cabinet drier it depends on the needs and likes of the particular dog the method used. Regular breaks are given to avoid stressing the dog and their health and wellbeing is my priority.

What shampoo do you use?

Professional hypo allergenic shampoos are used however if you have a shampoo prescribed by your vet or one you would like used in particular we have no problem in using it.

Do you use cages and muzzles?

The use of cages and muzzles where possible is avoided however they are available for use if necessary.

Will my dog be sedated or harnessed?

Your dog will not be sedated or harnessed at any time during their visit to the grooming parlour. Patience and understanding is fundamental to the way I work.

Do you offer a collection and drop off service?

Yes, please ask for more details. Dog sitting and walking is also available.

What if I can’t make an appointment?

Please give as much notice as you can, so the time slot can be offered to another pampered pooch.

Animal Reiki

I am also fully qualified in Animal Reiki

Animals, including wild animals, intuitively recognise and appreciate Reiki's ability to heal. They often quickly learn to seek it out on their own. Animals often respond more quickly to Reiki Healing than people do and positive results are usually seen in a relatively short period of time.

Reiki heals at all levels of an animal's being and does not cause stress discomfort or pain.

Reiki is an effective form of complementary animal healing and using it alongside veterinary treatments can accelerate the healing process, ease pain, and improve, or help to continue, the animal's quality of life.

Which animals can benefit from Animal Reiki Healing?

Healthy, ill and dying animals can all benefit from Reiki Treatment. For healthy animals, Reiki Treatments help to maintain the state of health, enhancing peace and overall well-being. For animals that are ill, Animal Reiki assists healing at the deepest levels and is a safe complement to conventional medicine, Chinese medicine, homeopathy, flower essences and all other forms of healing. Reiki also helps to reduce the side effects of other treatments. For dying animals Reiki is a highly effective yet gentle way to provide comfort, pain relief, alleviate anxiety and fear and to ease the transition from this life. Reiki Healing can also provide support and help with grief for the animal's owner.

What to expect from Animal Reiki Treatment.

The treatment usually begins a short distance away from the animal rather than with hands on healing. This helps to build up trust and gives the animal the opportunity to feel the healing energy. The animal decides how much Reiki they want. Animals are more sensitive to energy than people and quickly understand its healing potential. During a treatment the animal may move closer to the Reiki Healer or may choose to lie away from them. It is their choice and wherever they are they will still receive the benefit from Reiki Healing.

Important Legislation

It is essential that you obtain veterinary treatment for a sick or dying animal. The paragraph below sets out the relevant legislation with regard to treating animals.

The Veterinary Surgery Act of 1966 prohibits anyone, other than a qualified veterinary surgeon from treating animals, including diagnosis of ailments and giving advice on such diagnosis. However the healing of animals by contact healing, by the laying of hands or distant healing is legal. The Protection of Animals Act 1911 requires that if an animal clearly needs treatment from a veterinary surgeon the owner must obtain this. To give emergency First Aid to animals for the purpose of saving life or relieving pain is permissible under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 Schedule 3 (taken from the UK Reiki Federation Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice - March 2002)
